grateful.

I am currently working on the images from Jessica+Matt's amazing wedding. I don't know how I am going to narrow down favorites for a blog post. There are far too many to love. These two people will forever hold a very special place in my heart. For their trust, their kindness, their willingness to go with the flow. And for their love.

Here is one of my absolute favorites from a little session Jessica and I had a few days before her wedding. The rest of the images will be coming in a few more days.

the texas rivers still call my name
and i hope i won't be too long
then again i got another day
and i got time for one more song.

Backup Plans and Calla Lilies

I am currently in Austin for a wedding (tomorrow!) and on Thursday I had a bridal session with my amazingly insanely gorgeous bride. Because this is not my market, because I don't have contacts with wedding planners or vendors or florists here in Austin, I took it upon myself to construct a bouquet for my bride. When we first met in the spring of this year, she mentioned she wanted non-florals for her bouquet. Grasses, seeds, wildflowers. I did my best to craft a perfect bridal session version of a grassy, pastoral, Texas bouquet.

Always Love,

Perfect Bound!

I'm headed to Texas in the morning for Jessica and Matt's wedding, and on the eve of my departure, I wanted to reshare their amazing Driftwood engagement session (recently featured over at Perfect Bound!)  Theirs was my first engagement session (Ever!) as well as my first feature (Ever!) and I couldn't have accomplished either without their style, Jessica's effortless beauty, or their amazing trust. I cannot wait for their wedding on Saturday.

A huge thank you to Anne-Marie over at Perfect Bound for the feature.

Always love,
A

le petit prince

Not too long ago, my best friend since we were knee high to a caterpillar had a baby. A perfect, precious, amazing, darling little boy.  I was blessed enough to capture a few images during his first few days of life:

Ten perfect fingers,
ten tiny toes,
I will love you, forever, darling
wherever you may go.

Always Love,
A

New Directions

I've never been a patient person. Like, ever. Not even a little. I am the pillar of impatience. Case in point: I'm about to share some news. News that won't be official until some time next year. Remember that part about patience? Yeah. See? I totally suck at it.  I am in the very early super beginning stages of rebranding Athena Pelton Photography.  Taking this website, this business to the next level and identifying myself online. I'm going to make this website, my blog and my portfolio site (yes! I'm going to have one! wheeee!) reflect exactly who I am. Exactly me.

I'm working with a fabulous designer whose vision, aesthetic, taste, and style is pristine.
And though the engine is still waiting for gas,
the wheels have been set in motion.

Below are my inspiration boards from Pinterest for my new concept.
The feel I want my online brand personality to evoke.
Air mail.
Penned words.
Old typeface.
Bright, muted colors.
Texture.
Yarn, wood, newsprint, fabric, wax.

It's going to be awhile, friends
before the project is complete....

But true to impatient form, I just couldn't wait to share the pre-beginning of the beginning.

I'm daring to dream.

It feels good.

Always love,
A
